About this practice
Mission Australia's Recovery Oriented Practice (ROP) Framework places the individual at the centre of their own recovery. Rather than doing things to people, workers walk alongside them — supporting informed choices, building on existing strengths, and helping people live meaningful lives in their communities. The framework integrates three evidence-based models: the Collaborative Recovery Model (CRM) from the University of Wollongong and Neami National, the Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) from the Copeland Center, and Recovery Oriented Systemic Transformation (ROSTI) from Enlightened Consultants. It also draws on trauma-informed care principles, positive psychology, and motivational interviewing. The framework covers a six-phase client journey from referral through to exit, a 10-principle practice values set, a peer workforce model, supervision structures, and organisational implementation guidance. Developed by Mission Australia's Mental Health and Wellbeing Community of Practice and informed by people with lived experience, carers, peer workers, and the MHCC.
